English Only

WOW....the US Senate almost had some balls yesterday, when they deiced that English should be the official language of the USA. Of course they turned around a few minutes later and softened it, but…it was almost effective leadership. So it is a resolution and not a law, which means they basically did NOTHING! No new news there.

The Da Vinci Code starts today and I am laughing at all the controversy. It is a NOVEL, not a true story. Some church in the Midwest created a video for its parishioners, stating just that fact. They must be very naïve to need that sort of update. And really, so what if Jesus had a life outside of work, makes him more human doesn’t it, and wasn’t that the whole point of his visit, so that God could become man?

Apparently the FBI is hot on the trail of Jimmy Hoffa. Some jail house informant states that he is buried under a barn on some horse ranch in Hidden Dreams Farm in western Oakland County's Milford Township, wherever the hell that is. I heard he was buried in a concrete column at Giant Stadium, but hell, buried under a barn works just as well. Either way, he is still dead.

The Wall

So the Senate compromised and proposes to build a fence along 300 plus miles of the US/Mexican border. Kennedy hates it, McCain is babbling about bananas, and they are trying to convince the House to change their stand. God luck boys, cause the House is up for re-election and will actually have to answer to the American VOTERS!

Bean's Blog had a great tribute to clowns. I am so torn on the whole clown issue. The I Hate Clowns people make their position very clear, but I do have to admit that I own Insane Clown Posse CDs and have been to several shows. I also love Killer Clowns from Outer Space. I do have to admit I hate those creepy French clowns.....

Are you Serious?

Mexico has filed a lawsuit to try to stop the US from sending National Guard troops to the border. Oh, get real!!! Have you seen how militarized Mexico's southern border is? What frickin' nerve for another country to try and tell us what we can or cannot do with our own borders. And the US Senate are total p*@*ies because they will not SEAL THE BORDER! The US House is sweating bricks because a huge majority of them are up for re-election this Fall. Don't worry Senetors, your time will come and you will be replaced in a couple of years if you drop the ball on this issue. Americans may be short sighted, but we will remember this for a LONG TIME. Be brave; protect America!

Hmmmmm......I am noticing a disturbing trends in these rants =)

GW is a Laugh Riot

Well I saw highlights of the speech, as I was giving a mid-term last night. His five step plan to protect our borders. It really just needs to be a one step plan....seal the borders with fences, walls, etc. Problem solved. We can handle the IAs we have here now, we just can't hold any more unless they come here legally. In San Berdu, they tried to pass a city council plan to make it a crime to rent to AIs or to hire them. It goes to the voters this fall and by the winter, if it passes, it will be squashed in the courts.

I was shocked to have a student walk out of my exam last night. I am a fairly laid back prof, and this was an open note/open book exam. Eight question, answer six. After sitting there for over an hour and a half she just gets up and leaves. CRAZY! She could give me no reason why she wouldn't even try to jot down some thoughts on the various healthcare topics. I guess I will have to flunk her. I will let her re-try of course, but not for full credit. That is unfair to the other stuednts who did stay and take the test. *shrug* You can't teach everyone I guess.

Weekends are too Short

I had a good Mother's Day. My sons were very kind and made me feel special. I refuse to allow them to buy gifts, I'd rather have a day off from cooking, cleaning, and other tedious household duties that I do not have time for. Got to sit around and veg on the TV. We watched a Surreal Life marathon on VH1. I love to watch B-List celebs act like themselves. Was TK high or WHAT???? And can I add, CC Deville is a truly nice guy.

OK ...so the President will go on TV tonight to tell America how he is sending the National Guard to the borders to assist the Border Patrol. His numbers are at 29% approval and I think this is just a stunt to try to pacify America into thinking he cares about what happens here. He apologized to President Fox of Mexico for trying to secure our own border. Once the craziness over this issue dies down, the troops will disappear. Sorry GW, this is actually a make or break issue and you cannot put a band aid on this like you have tried to do with so many other problems during your administration. Fool me once…OH you know the rest even if GW cannot say it aloud!
